Description:

Kettle's Edge Farm isa market garden farm located on 15 acres in the historic Ebey's Reserve one mile from Coupeville. We cultivate over 100 varieties of seasonal produce and cut flowers on less than one acre. Our on-site farm stand is open daily except for Thursday and Saturday. On those days you can find us at the Oak Harbor and Coupeville Farmers Markets.

We also manage a five-farm co-operative CSA, North Whidbey CSA that provides a weekly box of produce from June - September with Thursday pick-up locations at our farm and the Oak Harbor Farmers Market. Find us on Facebook.

CSA details: North Whidbey CSA is a five-farm cooperative that we manage.  We offer an Early Greens Season share for six weeks from May 18-June 23.  We offer a 14-week Main Season Share from June 22 to September 29.  Each week's share is a mix of greens, roots, legumes, alliums, squashes, tomatoes, peppers, egg plants, and fruit, such as apples, pears, plums and berries, depending upon seasonal availability.  We offer a pickup on Thursdays from 4-7 PM at our farm booth at the Oak Harbor Farmers Market and on Fridays from 4-6 PM at our farm stand.

Farming practices: A primary focus of our cultural practice is to build soil health. We plant annual fall cover crops selected to breakup soil compaction and fix nitrogen. We use only organic approved fertilizers to amend our soil fertility based upon annual soil analyses and augment the soil organic matter with compost as needed. We also utilize dense plantings and weed barrier to minimize weeds and interspersed plantings of flowers and herbs to attract pollinators and beneficial insects as natural insect predators. We monitor and rotate our crop planting locations to minimize plant disease and pest buildup.
