Description:
We are a diversified vegetable farm. Farm stand, CSA, the Capitol Hill farmers market in Seattle and local restaurants. We also grow a wide range of specialty cut flowers by the bucket or for U-Pick.
Local Roots Farm grows diversified vegetables in the picturesque Snoqualmie River Valley, just a 40 minute drive from Seattle. Owned and operated by Jason Salvo and Siri Erickson-Brown and ably assisted by their two kids Felix and Beatrice, LRF cultivates more than 100 varieties of vegetables and flowers, from arugula to zinnias and 25 acres of fertility-building cover crops in lieu of fertilizers.
We specialize in heirloom Italian varieties that thrive in our PNW climate. See website for details about CSA and farmstand. Cash/check only at farmstand. U-pick sales by the bucket are $40/bucket. We can provide buckets and fresh water for a small deposit. Please email siri@localrootsfarm.com for more info. We also have two Facebook pages - one for our farm and one for the farmstand.
CSA details: Vegetables. Our CSA is 26-weeks, from early-June through late-November. Visit our CSA page for exact dates.
Farming practices: While we choose not to certify organic, we do follow all organic growing practices. Each year at Local Roots Farm, we produce on 15 acres of naturally fertile floodplain soil without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Rather, crop rotation involving long-term cover crop/fallow cycles builds soil fertility and breaks pest and weed cycles.
