- Farmers Markets
My name is Monica Burnison and I am the owner of Twinkletoes Farm, which is housed at the Shared Soil site, just outside of Enumclaw, WA. I completed the Tilth Alliance Farm Works program in June of 2015, and am now entering my fourth season of farming. I am a second career farmer, and my interest in farming grew out of my love of good food and the birth of my first child. I wanted to contribute to improving the food system and make sure that I could feed my own family the highest quality produce possible. I have a particular focus on vegetables with unusual colors, shapes and sizes, and I’m committed to growing open-pollinated and heirloom varieties of vegetables. I want to be part of preserving unusual varieties of vegetables that aren’t easily found in current markets. I’m also committed to sourcing as much of my seed as possible from small independent seed producers in the Pacific Northwest.
Farm practices: Twinkletoes Farm is not certified organic, but I have experience with organic certification and do not use any products or methods that are prohibited by those standards. I use minimal tillage and permanent raised beds to preserve the soil structure and biodiversity. In addition, I use cover cropping to minimize soil erosion and contribute to soil fertility.
CSA details: Variety of vegetables and cut flowers. 16 weeks, July-October. Pick up in Rainier Beach, Renton and Auburn/Algona. Egg share available.
