Description:

Vashon Forest Stewards is a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore, enhance and maintain healthy native forest ecosystems, and to manage a sustainable ecological business that provides forestry services and locally grown wood products that help fund these efforts.

Working with nature, Vashon Forest Stewards restore, enhance and maintain forests and craft lumber from the wood they thin - from the forest to the floor. Vashon Forest Stewards assists forest landowners with forest stewardship plans and management practices that minimize disturbances. Wood generated from stewardship operations is milled and fully processed at their mill yard on Vashon Island.

They apply the three legged stool of sustainability to every step of their work: sustainable ecologically, economically and socially. Ecological thinnings have been carried out in some of the local community's major public forests: Agren Park, Island Center Forest and the Vashon Island School forest.

Customers are welcome to see their work first hand. Products can be purchased directly from the mill yard on Vashon Island or online.
