Lavender Scones


1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup corn starch
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon culinary lavender, or to taste
2/3 cup buttermilk


Preheat oven to 425°F.

1. Combine flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Cut in butter with a pastry blender.

2. Add buttermilk and knead lightly, handling the dough as little as possible.

3. Divide dough in half and shape into balls, slightly flattened.

4. Cut each round into quarters and bake 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
